QuintetEvent "AI: your new everyday ally!" — recap
By Laurent Mertz · 23 March 2026
On 12 March, in a one-hour conference, David Marthoz provided nearly 65 ALEBA members, in the Royal's meeting room, with a clear and structured introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), explaining its principles, applications and challenges.
He first defined AI as a set of technologies capable of analysing data and learning autonomously. He emphasised that current AI remains “narrow” — specialised in specific tasks — unlike the still-theoretical general AI.
David then highlighted how AI is already part of everyday life: personalised recommendations, voice assistants, medical tools, and navigation systems. He stressed its role as a decision-support tool that improves efficiency across many fields.
From an economic perspective, he explained that AI is a major strategic asset for companies, particularly through automation and data analysis. However, he noted that human involvement remains essential to guide and interpret these technologies.
The conference also addressed key risks and limitations, including algorithmic bias, data privacy concerns, job-market impacts, and technological dependence. David underlined the importance of strong ethical and regulatory frameworks.
In conclusion, he presented AI as a powerful opportunity, provided it is used responsibly and thoughtfully.
A conference that was unanimously praised by the ALEBA members who attended!
