ALEBA unionLoyalty bonus & indexation
By Laurent Mertz · 17 June 2026
Reminder: the loyalty bonus under the Banking CBA is also indexed.
As a reminder, the loyalty bonus provided for by the Banking collective bargaining agreement is calculated based on the employee's seniority and corresponds to a percentage of their base salary.
The collective agreement explicitly states that this bonus is paid together with the June salary. For ALEBA, it is therefore clear that the base salary applicable at the time of payment — i.e. the June salary — is what must be used to calculate the bonus.
Since base salaries increased by 2.5% as of 1 June 2026, the loyalty bonus also benefits from the effect of the indexation.
The reference period running from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026 is not used to determine the base salary for calculating the bonus. It is only used to determine the pro-rata rate based on the employee's working time during that period — in other words, to calculate the attendance rate to apply when paying the bonus.
However, it appears that the ABBL is recommending its members use the May 2026 salary as the reference salary for calculating the loyalty bonus! This interpretation, unfavourable to employees in the sector, is not acceptable!
As provided for by the Banking collective agreement, ALEBA will refer the matter to the Joint Committee, the body established between the signatories of the collective agreement, to clarify the situation and defend the interests of employees in the sector.
