QuintetFoot reflexology: a chat with Barbara!
By Laurent Mertz · 14 September 2025
Barbara Polmans, Permanent Delegate for ALEBA, looks back on the reintroduction of foot reflexology sessions at the bank.
In its programme for the March 2024 elections, the ALEBA faction committed to improving well-being at work.
In this context, Barbara Polmans was the driving force behind the reintroduction of foot reflexology sessions, with a new therapist she found, Isabelle Le Calvez.
Barbara explains the reasons behind this initiative, how it has progressed, and the prospects for the future.
Why was this initiative launched?
This initiative is not entirely new, as it already existed before, but in a slightly different form.
We simply chose to relaunch and strengthen it because we are convinced of its importance.
It is fully in line with our overall approach to well-being at work, which is really important for our ALEBA faction and for the Staff Delegation in general.
We want to offer everyone an environment that is conducive to fulfilment and motivation. By reactivating this initiative, we are also responding to the expectations expressed by our colleagues, while reaffirming our commitment to placing quality of life at the heart of our priorities. On a personal level, this is really essential!
What is foot reflexology?
Foot reflexology is a gentle technique that involves stimulating reflex zones on the feet.
Each zone corresponds to an organ or function of the body.
By working on these points, we promote relaxation, circulation and the harmonisation of energies.
How does a typical session work?
Isabelle Le Calvez, with whom we collaborate, is a certified therapist specialising in foot, palm and facial reflexology.
She offers 40-minute sessions twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), charged at a negotiated price of €35.
After a brief discussion to understand their needs and expectations, colleagues settle comfortably into the chair and Isabelle applies gentle pressure (with or without specialised oil) to different areas of the foot.
What benefits have been reported by the first colleagues who have enjoyed a session?
I am glad, because the feedback has been very positive.
Many colleagues mention a deep sense of relaxation, better sleep and reduced tension in the back or neck, as the whole body relaxes.
Clearly, that was the goal, so I can only be delighted!
A final word to encourage our colleagues to give it a try?
Treat your feet — and your body — to a real moment of pampering!
Foot reflexology is simple, natural and deeply relaxing.
I am really happy that this project — which is important for ALEBA and for the whole Delegation — has come to fruition!
I recommend that you book your session now via SuccessFactors, as places are filling up fast!
